About John Brodie
John Brodie, the principal and founder of Vim Sustainability Consulting, has been a construction project manager, design manager, builder and commited advocate for efficiency in buildings for over thirty years. John built his first passive solar, climate responsive designed and renewable powered home in 1987. Made from recycvled materials and scavenged timber John and his wife still use the home today. |

- Working out of a green office at South Sydney Corporate park
- Office is serviced by a bio diesel shuttle bus to central station
- All stormwater is reused on site
- All grey waste water is recycled on site
- All food waste is used to generate power
- Office is naturally lit by Sun Pipes
- Office is naturally ventilated by WindowMaster TM Automatic Window systems
- CO2 and VOC Levels in the office are controlled by the automated window ventilation system
- Recycling all office waste
- Utilising low energy office equipment
- Office carpet is low VOC recyclable carpet tiles
- Office is painted in low VOC paints
- Office energy use is controlled by a 'Grid Manager' energy managment system to reduce energy use to the absolute minimum
- Office furniture is recycled
- Directly sponsoring six children to go to school in Luang Prabang in Laos
- Directly sponsoring an orphanage in Siem Reap in Cambodia
- Providing english teaching services to the orphanage in Siem Reap in Cambodia
- Sponsoring a child in Phnom Penh, Cambodia through a charity
- Sponsoring a child in Peru through a charity
- Sponsoring Orang-utans in Borneo through a charity
- Many of the staff are vegetarians resulting in significantly reduced personal carbon footprints
- Owning and preserving 300 acres of mixed forest and old growth forest as an oxygen farm and carbon offset facility on the Mid North Coast of NSW
